Stephen Younger teaches Stata programming, during DPRU/NIEP/Cornell course on poverty and inequality.
One of the technical assistance projects of SAGA (Strategies and Analyses for Growth and Access) was a Workshop on the Analysis and Measurement of Poverty and Inequality in South Africa. Stephen Younger, Paul Cichello, and Ravi Kanbur worked with the Development Policy Research Unit (DPRU) and the National Institute for Economic Policy (NIEP) to present this two-week poverty and inequality workshop for 25 faculty at South Africa’s historically disadvantaged universities. The aim of this course was to provide participants with methods and practice for poverty and inequality analysis using South African survey data. Hands-on computer-based exercises using the statistical software package STATA accompanied readings and lectures. measures. The workshop was held June 23-July 4, 2003, in Capetown.
