A beam of electrons travelling with a speed of 3 ×107 m/s enters the space between two parallel plates (the deflection plates of an oscilloscope) traveling (initially) parallel to the plates, half way between them. The the electric field in the region between the plates is 2 ×104 N/C, directed downward. The plates are 6 cm long. What is the direction and magnitude of the change in velocity of the electrons as they emerge from between the plates?
