A positively charged rod is brought near a conductor, as shown in figure (a). If the switch grounding the conductor is now closed, as in figure (b),

A. Negative charge will briefly flow to the right, leaving the conductor with a net positive charge.
B. Negative charge will briefly flow to the left, leaving the conductor with a net negative charge.
C. No charges will flow and the conductor stays neutral.
D. Charges will redistribute themselves within the conductor, but there will be no net charge on it.
