When a pendulum oscillates its acceleration reaches maximum values at the stop points where the velocity is zero.

The acceleration of a body is proportional to the net force acting on the body:

FNET = F - mg = m a .

The acceleration is equal to zero at the equilibrium point where the velocity reaches a maximum value.
