Will you be accepting new students in the Spring 2025 semester?

Possiblly. New students in the McLaskey Research Group are generally only admitted during the Fall semesters, but I will consider students for Spring 2025 admissions this year.

Will you be accepting new PhD students in the Fall 2025 semester?

Yes. I am always interested in students who want to do research that uses mechanics, sensors, and signal anlaysis. I am also looking for students who value communication (written, visual, and verbal), teamwork, diversity, and scientific rigor. Some background in mechanics (computational and/or experimental) is very helpful, as well as an interest in earthquakes. If this seems like it could be you, please contact me via email with a description of why you think you might be a good fit for the group.

Interested students should apply to the graduate school at Cornell either in the field of Civil and Environmental Engineering under "Structural Engineering" or in the field of Geological Sciences. Please mention me in your statement of purpose to make sure I see your application.
