Writing in the Major is for anyone, not just DEA majors. This option might be for you if:
• You would like to discover and understand more about:
   a) Design and human behavior
   b) Human decision making as a principal cause of environmental problems
• You would like to get an additional credit (4 units instead of 3) for this class.
• You would like to have an opportunity to improve your writing.

Note: Writing in the Major replaces the regular Discussion Sections for this class. You cover the same material but do so in more depth and have more writing assignments. If you take WIM, your grade for DEA 1500 is 75% from the WIM section and 25% from exams.

If it sounds intriguing, you can check out the syllabus and project overview for WiM section:
WiM 2023 Syllabus

Assignments There will be three assignments about different environments including home, city, and earth.

Semester Project There are two options for the main project. You will be asked to choose 1:
Option A: Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) of an MVR/ HEB commons
Option B: Encouraging Recycling through Technological Innovation

Examples of final projects from past years below:
Project 1: Caroline-Brighten 2018 Report [.pdf]
