APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR DAAD/CORNELL EXCHANGE FELLOWSHIPS
FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2010-2011


APPLICATIONS are now invited for DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Fellowships for the Academic Year 2010-2011. DAAD fellowships carry tuition and fees, monthly stipends ranging roughly from Euro 715 to Euro 975, and a stipend to defray travel costs.

THE COMPETITION is open to graduating seniors, graduate students and recent PhDs, and post-doctoral researchers from all schools and colleges in the university. For study in the fields of medicine and dentistry, please contact the DAAD New York office, daadny@daad.org.

The fellowships enable students to study at a German university (Study Scholarships) or to work on a research project in Germany (Research Grants).

APPLICATIONS MUST INCLUDE an updated CV, a project outline and/or rationale for study in Germany (all pages of the CV and project outline must have the name of the applicant printed on them), Cornell transcript, two substantial letters of recommendation from professors in the student's field, local address, telephone number and e-mail address. Applicants should establish contact with their intended host university as early as possible and secure a letter of invitation or welcome. This letter will become part of the application package. DAAD favors "candidates who have been invited by a faculty member of a German university, archive, institute or laboratory" (DAAD guidelines).
In general, applicants should be US or Canadian citizens. However, foreign nationals are eligible if they have been full-time students at a US or Canadian university for at least two years at the time of application. All foreign nationals must contact DAAD New York, daadny@daad.org, before applying to determine their eligibility status.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2009, FOR ARTISTS AND MUSICIANS;  MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2009, FOR ALL OTHERS.

Candidates selected by the Cornell  Selection Committee, Herbert Deinert, Chair, will be entered into the national competition and evaluated by  a DAAD appointed international selection committee.  Their decisions are binding.
