Assignment #4: Mock-up (cartoon) of Your Design

Issued: 19 February 2002
Due: 26 February 2002

On two sheets of 11" x 17" paper, sketch a "mock-up" of a typical floor plan (or plans), building section, wall section, and detail section based on a school project you have designed (at a "schematic design" level)

Note:

  • Sketch drawings at appropriate scales: for example, plans and building section at 1/16" = 1'-0"; wall section at 1/4"= 1'-0"; and detail section at 3" = 1'-0" (1/4 full size).

  • Choose most significant section and detail.

  • Show break lines on wall section and detail section, if appropriate.

  • Even if sketch is freehand, it should be drawn or traced over "hardline" guidelines.

  • Finished sketch is intended as a "mock-up" of a final drawing, to see how it fits on the page, and to begin to determine dimensioning and labeling strategies.
