Read Chapter 8, Sections 801 - 806, IBC. Answer the following questions:
1. Section 801:
- Interior finish regulations are intended to limit what two types of fire processes?
- What name is given to the type of finish material required in flood hazard areas?
2. Section 802:
- What is the definition of "flame spread?"
- Is "trim" considered to be part of the interior wall and ceiling finish? Give three examples of trim.
3. Section 803:
- Create a table or chart listing the three classes of interior finishes together with their flame spread and smoke-developed index ratings.
- According to Section 803.4.1, what are the basic requirements for finishes attached to elements that are required to be of fire-resistance-rated or noncombustible construction?
- According to Section 803.4.2, what are the requirements when finishes are applied more than 1.75" away from fire-resistive-rated or noncombustible elements?
- For what three categories of building spaces (locations) are finish requirements listed in Table 803.5?
4. Section 804:
- Which "traditional" floor finishes to not need to comply with section 804?
5. Section 805:
- In Types I and II construction, what are the requirements for using combustible "sleepers" or nailing blocks between the fire-resistant-rated floor-ceiling assembly and the subfloor supporting the finish?
6. Section 806:
- What percentage of a wall or ceiling area is allowed to be covered with combustible trim (excluding hand and guard rails)?
