Write a 5-10 page paper describing an important urban conflagration or single-building fire (excluding the WTC 9/11/01 fire).
Include the following:
- Description of the conditions (environmental, political, constructional, etc.) that led to the fire;
- Description of the sequence of events during the fire (ignition source, fuel, alarms/communication if any, suppression strategies, etc.);
- Description of aftermath of the fire (political, social, building-code changes, etc.)
Include graphic material to illustrate major points (maps, diagrams, etc.: these may be scanned/photocopied from other sources, with proper attribution).
Include proper attribution of all sources, whether from books, periodicals, or online. See, for example, A Research Guide for Students or Duke University's Turabian Footnote guide.
