Description
Through a series of readings, exercises and case studies, students will investigate ways in which structural forces can be expressed in works of architecture. Both the structural basis of form as well as the formal articulation of structure will be considered.
Objectives
- Gain insight into the behavior of structure;
- Investigate the cultural meaning of structure and technology;
- Explore the interaction of structure and form.

1/3 lecture; 1/3 guided discussion; 1/3 student presentation or in-class design exploration
